SMITH Thermal/Catalytic Oxidizer
(TCO)
SMITH introduces a new product to
control VOC emissions: TCO (thermal/catalytic oxidizer). The SMITH TCO combines two technologies (RTOs
and RCOs) to offer you a
choice of two operating modes in a single product.
For the first time ever, you have push-button
flexibility on equipment operating costs. With a SMITH
TCO, you can choose to operate your
system in catalytic mode and then later, in thermal mode. This conversion can be
done with fingertip ease...at no cost to you, and with absolutely no loss in production,
no process upset, no downtime, and no loss in compliance.
The SMITH TCO is configured as an RTO with multiple heat
exchange canisters filled with heat transfer media. The TCO is designed
for a minimum 95% thermal energy recovery and for destruction/removal efficiency of 95% up
to 99+%.
When you elect to operate your TCO in catalytic mode, a layer of platinum catalyst-coated
ceramic media (saddles or monolith) is installed on top of a bed of ceramic media.
The TCO is set to operate at a temperature range of 600 deg. F. to
800 deg. F. You save money by using less fuel and less fan horsepower.
A fact about catalytic oxidizers and RCOs is that they are designed to
operate in catalytic mode only. The TCO offers you flexibility by not having to commit to one or the
other. You have choices.
